Alert Check Tests measure your current levels of alertness and fatigue. The test was designed based on the principles of NASA’s Psychomotor Vigilance Test (PVT) Reaction Self-Test, developed to assess when an astronaut’s performance ability is impaired by fatigue-induced conditions.
Within the first 7-10 days of using the CZ Smart YouQ app, you’ll be prompted to take an Alert Check Test 2-3 times a day for a total of 23 tests. These tests help YouQ determine your chronotype. The test prompts vary daily as YouQ prioritizes different times of the day based on its understanding of your unique daily rhythms.
To accurately determine your chronotype, YouQ needs to see a confidence score of at least 98%. Sometimes, a user's daily patterns can fall in between two possible chronotypes. In these "edge" cases, the chronotype definition may switch between the two potential chronotypes until YouQ is 98% confident and makes the final determination. Until the score reaches 80%, YouQ won't show you your chronotype information.
Alert Check Test results also help inform the determination of your level of alignment with your chronotype baseline over time. Misalignment with your chronotype can impact more than just your sleep quality; it can also lead to decreased productivity and cognitive performance. As a result, your reaction times for the Alert Monitor Test will be slower.
Alert Check scores are expressed as a percentile, allowing you to compare your current alertness levels to those of previous days. Alert Check scores factor into determining your hourly Power Scores, as well as recommendations for Power Fixes to improve your alertness.
Alert Check Tests can be found on Alert Monitor which is accessible on the Dashboard’s main navigation under this tab with the BRAIN Icon .
